Against the Grain

Alternative title to James Dean’s “rebel without a cause”. Ok, seriously, grain refers to the direction of fibers in paper. Thankfully, grain direction only comes in two types, long grain and the short grain. Long grain runs in same direction as the longest border. Short grain runs in same direction as the shortest border.

· When using full color digital printing, use the grain long direction that reduces paper stretching and enhances color intensity.

· Folding paper against the grain strengthens your print, making brochures much stronger.
