The extent to which ink covers the surface of a printed sheet. Commonly expressed as light, medium or heavy. Extremely high (over 90%) or low (under 10%) ink saturation on a single color cause typical problems in offset printing. Low ink saturation may not print at all, while extremely high saturation may look like a solid color. Black-and-white printing suffers the most from high ink coverage.
